pastor mitch's
meanderings
Most Christians don’t realize that Easter Sunday is the start of the season of Easter which lasts 50 days and ends on Pentecost. Pastor Mike and I have started this season with messages of faith and hope. 1 Peter is where I’m camping out for the rest of the Easter season. It is a letter written to believers who have been enduring a time of suffering. It provides encouragement for them to continue following Jesus. It is a book filled with hope. It would be easy for Christians to lose heart and fall away from God when times get tough. The Bible describes this process as a hardening of the heart. We can go back to Ezekiel 36 in the Old Testament for some hope as well. Verse 26 says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” Christianity is in the business of transformation. God transforms our hearts from being hard as stone to hearts of flesh, or hearts of love. We have to be careful not to cut off our relationship with God by being selfish and pursuing worldly things. This verse offers hope in the midst of our dark world. It describes the transformation that happens through God’s love and grace, and it begins with our willingness to surrender our whole selves to God’s will. God will give us a new heart and also place a new spirit in us. The hope of this promise and our experience with God should allow us to declare the faithfulness of God. Don’t allow the world to beat you down. Have faith in our God and carry on with hope for a bright tomorrow. |
Be Blessed, Pastor Mitch |

Faith Prayer Warriors

One of the effects of sin in our lives is to keep us from feeling like praying. But perfect moral behavior is not a condition for prayer. Don’t let guilt feelings over sin keep you from your only means of restoration. No matter how long you have been away from God, he is ready to hear from you and restore you to a right relationship. Every situation can be salvaged if you are willing to turn again to Him.
Please join us on Tuesday mornings at 10 am. in Room 1 for prayer.
If you can't join us, but have a prayer concern, contact Donna Barton (765-618-9240, dbarton5270@yahoo.com) or Karen Neumann (630-280-9124, kneumann9124@gmail.com).

At Josiah White's Residential, students have the opportunity to participate in a project to give back to our community, but they need your help!
The Finnley Project, a group dedicated to comforting families grieving and enduring pregnancy and infant loss, came to campus and taught some of our students and staff how to make infant hats and cocoons using yarn and looms.
We want to keep this opportunity going for our residential students, but we are in great need of yarn! If you are willing to donate, we need skeins of Bernat brand Baby Blanket yarn only. All yarn donations can be dropped off at the front desk at the Hodson Center on Josiah White's campus. If you would like to donate financially toward the purchase of yarn, You may put the money in an envelope and bring to the office and Kateri will take the money and or yarn up to the campus. This is an ongoing event.
